Ode to January

Oh happy January, here you are
though winter seems behind us as December.
But soon the winds could change to take us far
into the misery that we remember-
of icey shards upon the yards about us
and snow that piles for miles and miles. I dread
the nights we freeze and wish for warmth to crowd us.
Return the spring the sun the heat instead!
