Review: San Antonio Symphony

San Antonio seemingly reverted to the Spanish colony it once was during the San Antonio Symphony’s performance Friday night of Manuel de Falla’s “The Three-Cornered Hat.”
Falla’s two ballet suites by far was the highlight for a night of uneven performances of music by Antonio Vivaldi, Leo Brouwer and Ludwig van Beethoven attended by about 1,450 people at the Majestic Theatre.
The Falla was an experience enhanced by the swirling choreography of the Guadalupe Dance Company, the attractive mezzo voice of Crystal Jarrell and subtitles projected above the stage that told a Valentine’s Day weekend-appropriate story of love conquering all.
