American mezzo-soprano Crystal Jarrell is a two time regional finalist of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and was the winner of the Audience Favorite Award in the same competition in the San Diego District in 2008. She has appeared as a soloist with the San Diego Symphony Orchestra, Golden State Pops Orchestra, Indianapolis Arts Chorale, Bloomington Symphony Orchestra, Classical Chorus of Abilene, Utah Festival Opera Orchestra, and the Indiana University Chorale. Additional appearances include concerts at the Indianapolis Film Festival as well as the Lieder Abend and Opera Gala Series in Altenburg, Germany.
Recent operatic performances include Countessa di Ceprano/ Paggio in Rigoletto and Kate Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly with San Diego Opera, Stephano in Romeo and Juliet and Kate Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly with Nashville Opera, The Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors with San Antonio Opera, and Olga in The Merry Widow with Indianapolis Opera.
Other roles in her operatic repertoire include Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte, Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro, Third Lady and Papagena in The Magic Flute, Valencienne in The Merry Widow, Olga in Eugene Onegin, Emily in The Ballad of Baby Doe, Mary Stone in The Devil and Daniel Webster and Zita in Gianni Schicchi. Jarrell is an alumna of the young artist programs of San Diego Opera, Nashville Opera, Utah Festival Opera and Indianapolis Opera, and holds a Master of Music in Voice from the prestigious Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in Bloomington, Indiana.
